It is mouthguard time!

It’s Mouthguard Season!

Footy’s back, hockey’s on, basketball and netball are in full swing. Winter sport is here, and it’s the perfect time to protect your smile.

At Adelaide City Dental Care, we want to remind all players and families just how serious a knock to the mouth can be. Sporting injuries can lead to lost teeth, jaw damage and long-term oral health issues. Unlike other parts of the body, teeth don’t repair themselves. That’s why we fully support the “No Mouthguard, No Play” policy now adopted by most sports.

We make custom-fitted mouthguards right here in Adelaide for both juniors and seniors. They’re made locally by Adelaide Laboratories, another proudly SA-owned business and come in your choice of colours, with your name embedded. Each one is firm-fitting, comfortable, and includes a case (please, not the footy sock—so gross!).

Had a tooth knocked out? Here’s what to do:

  • Handle it only by the crown (shiny part), not the root.

  • If it’s an adult tooth and reasonably clean, try to place it gently back in.

  • Bite down on a tissue to keep it stable and see your dentist immediately.

  • Can’t get it back in? Store it in milk or saliva and get to us ASAP.

It’s not just sport. Falls, accidents, or collisions can also cause dental trauma. If you chip or break a tooth, call us right away and let us know you’ve had a mouth injury. We’ll arrange an assessment and work with you on the best course of action.

We’re here to help protect your smile—on and off the field.

Call the clinic on 8212 3880 and will we assist you.

May the floss be with you!  As an avid Star Wars fan, May the 4th is one of Michelle’s favourite days of the year.  Expect a Star Wars meme or two on our Facebook page!!  We had a couple of busy months during March and April. We hope you had fun over Easter and the school holidays.  Catherine took some time with her family over the school holidays.  Tina’s little one is growing fast and is so cute.  In clinic news everyone has updated their medical emergency training with CPR and learnt some new exercises from our ergonomics workshop with Thrive Physio Plus.  It is great that the CPR trainer does simulations in our clinic to make it real world.

See you in the clinic!  The Adelaide City Dental Care Team.
