Is teeth whitening safe, and is it easy?
Given that Adelaide is celebrating Festival season, you might like to add a festive touch to your teeth as well! One safe and easy option to improve the look of your teeth is to consider whitening. It is a conservative treatment that improves the colour of your teeth without the need to cut away any tooth structure.
Teeth whitening or bleaching is a straight-forward and safe process, but to achieve good results in a safe way, it is important that it is supervised by your dentist or hygienist. It is easy to achieve great results in just a few steps.
Can I just use the stuff in the chemist?
There are many products available in the chemist and supermarket, however the strength of peroxide in them is not enough to improve your teeth appearance for more than a day.
What is the process?
We first assess your teeth and make sure you are up to date with any preventive treatment you require. Once satisfied with the health of your teeth and gums, we take moulds of your teeth to make custom-fit trays, which are used to apply bleach to your teeth at home. A second appointment is then required for us to check the fit of your trays and to explain how to use the bleach.
Using home-whitening, you choose a convenient time to apply the bleach, starting and stopping as you need. This minimises any potential sensitivity and also ensures you achieve the result you want. This is great if you are worried about overdoing it- with home whitening, you simply stop when you are happy with the result and you can always ‘top up’ if you need a little boost.
Have patients been happy with the whitening?
Our patients have been thrilled with the results, and the ‘before and after’ photos we have included are of a real patient who was so satisfied with his results that he was happy for us to include photos of it in this newsletter.
If this is something that you are interested in, please don’t hesitate to give us a call. We look forward to seeing you.
