Welcome to the Adelaide City Dental Care Practice Newsletter
All the leaves are nearly off the trees along King William St and our Practice is nice and warm inside. There is easy access to the building from the Rundle Mall Tram stop or the closest carparks are in Hindley St, Festival Theatre or downstairs under the Myer Centre. As the cold weather is here it is also the time for the winter sport season to be in full swing. A well fitted mouth guard is often compulsory in contact sports. We all prefer to see front teeth in one piece so they need to be worn at training too! We are happy to assist in constructing a mouth guard for your children or yourself.
One of the most frequent issues we see is the abrasion of tooth structure by hard brushing and acidic foods and drinks. It is important to use a soft or ultrasoft brush on your teeth in a gentle manner. Overbrushing will remove the enamel off your teeth which not only makes them sensitive, but also makes them look darker as the inner tooth is not masked as much anymore. More time spent flossing is far more valuable. Your normal toothbrush will not get into these spaces. We have soft and ultrasoft brushes for purchase at our Practice. We have available UV toothbrush cleaners to remove bacteria on your brush.
Acidic foods and drinks also remove the enamel surface especially if sipped over a long time. Try not to brush straight after acidic foods or drinks as that will further damage the tooth surface. Snacking is not good for teeth enamel as it encourages erosion and decay to occur. If you are using lemon in water or a wine taster please advise us so we can help minimize the damage this can do. If you have any queries about this please ask Kylie or your Dentists at your next appointment.
Our Practice is moving along with technology having launched a new website at www.adelaidecitydentalcare.com.au. Feel free to like us on facebook and give us a review on the page or on the Google + page. We have a feedback sheet too if you would like to fill that out. We aim to make dentistry as comfortable as possible for you and provide you with information that is useful for you and your families health and well being. The dental technician who does our crowns and bridges has purchased some new more accurate technology. All our laboratory work for crowns, bridges, implants and dentures to restore teeth are made in Australia with quality materials.
Kind regards, Dr Michelle Stone.
